Makin Sport Horses International is the evolution of a distinguished British equestrian legacy. Our story began in 1954 at Harringay Arena, where Chris Makin’s father, Edmund “Eddie” Makin, secured a historic victory in the HOYS Puissance. This triumph established the Makin name at the pinnacle of the sport.

Chris inherited this passion from an early age. By just sixteen, he was managing over twenty horses and ponies to earn a living, developing an exceptional eye for conformation, athleticism and the careful production of future performance horses. Driven by a commitment to sourcing, producing and developing horses capable of competing at the very highest level, Chris established MSHI Sporthorses.

Today, MSHI remains true to those founding principles, combining world-class bloodlines with expert production to create exceptional event horses with the talent, temperament and quality to succeed on the international stage.

Specialising in the production of elite four- and five-year-old sport horses, MSHI works alongside some of the sport's most respected riders, including Laura Collett, Holly Woodhead and Hayden Hankey. Their expertise provides every horse with an unrivalled foundation, ensuring each is given the very best opportunity to fulfil its potential and achieve success at the highest levels of the sport.
